9th World Schools Debate Academy

Za in proti, zavod za kulturo dialoga/Pro et contra, Institute for culture of dialogue kindly invite you to the 9th International Worlds Schools Debate Academy in beautiful Kranjska gora, Slovenia from June 24th to July 1st 2017.

The training part of the WSDA brings lectures, exercises, debate and content electives, practice debates. The participants are divided in different groups on the basis of their experience – from beginners to really advanced ones, the last days there is a tournament.

WSDA targets STUDENTS from 13 to 18, can be already experienced debaters or complete beginners and everything in between. The training is very intense and very active, a lot of small groups interactive practices with excellent international trainers. You can register as a group or individually. WSDA staff members will take care of the participants who are coming withouth accompanying adults.

TEACHERS, COACHES .. TRACK We do have a special track for everybody who would like to use debate techniques as one of the active method in the classroom and/or start debate club at their schools – debate coaches, trainers, judges, organisers, trainers – who would like to learn more how to run debate club, train, judge and organise debate events. Last year we had 24 teachers,coaches and debate organisers participating in this program.

In the previous 8 WSDAs participants came from the following countries: Bahrein, Bolgaria, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech R, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Honk Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Kazahstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malesia, Moldova, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Venezuela. The number of participants is growing every year, there were almost 200 participants in 2016

TRAINERS are coming from different countries and have a lot of experience with Worlds Schools and Worlds University debate as debaters, judges, coaches and trainers. WSDA HOTELS We will be accomodated in one or two Hit Alpinea hotels https://www.hit-alpinea.si/en in Kranjska gora. In addition to training and debate venues hotels offer also free wi-fi in the rooms, free pool, gym and sport fields for different ball games, buffet type meals.

REGISTRATION will open beginning of January and close on May 15.
We strongly encourage everybody that you register as soon as possible because the spots are limited. At WSDA 2016 there were almost 200 participants, this year we expect similar number. We will close the registration when all the spots are taken, so do not wait to register. You should also be aware that your spot is secure only after your pay the registration fee.

Early registration is even more important for everybody who needs visa as it might take long time before you get it. All the information regarding visa documents which everybody needs to receive from our side will be dealt by our registration officer Danijel Kralj, who can be reached at [email protected]

Registration fee is 350,00 EUR (covers 7 nights/3 meals buffet type, training costs and material, wi-fi, pool, excursion to Bled) should be paid via bank transfer. Your spot is secure when we receive your payment.

If you come one day earlier and/or leave one day after additional costs for extra nights need to be paid. Please, contact us, if you will go for that.

There are very limited number of single rooms available for additional cost of 16,00 EUR/day.
