Conclusion

As the old saying goes, when there’s a will, there’s a way. This could not be more true  when it comes to selection and preparing your team for WSDC. Even if all this seems daunting right now, always keep in mind that the end product really will be worth it and the World Schools Debating Championships is an event like no other.

We began this guide by saying that we understand how many issues and obstacles there are to face when establishing or building a debating culture within a nation and attempting to select and train a national team but that there are plenty of people here to help you along way and this how we end.

There is no right or wrong way to select a national team and even those nations that have achieved great success at WSDC have usually done so by updating their methods over the years and abandoning the systems that haven’t worked while developing the ones that do. The essential thing to remember is that you need to find a model that works for you and your nation’s needs. All the suggestions in this document are meant to provide useful hints and tips, from our own experiences, to equip you with all the basic knowledge to achieve this and when you do, we very much look forward to seeing you at a future World Schools Debating Championships!

Good luck!
